Aspiring
to become a Civic Leader in Marakusi
Ward found in Lugari Constituency,
Lugari
District,
Western
Provice
of
Kenya.
Erick
Matsanza is committed to bringing
change in the way the people of
Marakusi Ward and beyond are lead. He
is focused in first changing one
of the Wards in Lugari, Marakusi,
where the race is now dominated
by retirees who are not looking
at the ward in terms of development
but as a source of income in their
retirement lives.
Erick Matsanza
has requested the people of Marakusi
Ward to change all these and give
him a chance to provide youthful
and
energetic
leadership
that will bring development in the
area.
Erick I. Matsanza has come to realize that in order to
truly improve the lives of people in Marakusi community and other communities, it
would take not just a change of guard at the local level, but a change in the
politics
of
Marakusi
and
its
leadership.
Erick
Matsanza
believes in the ability to unite people around a politics of purpose,
that
which puts solving the challenges that
the
people
of
Marakusi
face
everyday
ahead
of
partisan
issues.
It is Erick Matsanza's
first time to enter active politics.
Realizing that there was a problem
with party politics not only in
Marakusi
Ward
but in the
whole
of Lugari with
power brokers in all wards in Lugari,
who have held existing parties at
ransom in that you have to pay them
so as to be allowed to participate
in the internal affairs of a party,
Erick Matsanza approached and teamed
up
with Richard
Sisa and went to a fresh party which
had not taken root in Lugari. Erick and Richard have been
instrumental
and
successfully
initiating the ideologies of Labour
Party of Kenya (LPK) in the whole
constituency,
where Erick
Matsanza
currently serves as the party Branch
Co-ordinator/Organizing
Secretary while Richard
Sisa
as
it's
Branch
chair.
Erick
Matsanza
went for LPK despite the formation
of KADDU, a new party formed at
the same time by a powerful
local leader. He looked at the move
as a Goliath and David fight. The
reason is the kind of leadership
provided by this person has left
the community languishing in poverty
as he only comes during the election
year and distributes money which
helps the community only for a day.
Erick believes in a chinese proverb
which says, "Give a man fish
and you feed him for the day, teach
a him how to fish and you feed him
for life." The leadership that
exist even today does not invest
in the people and future of Marakusi Ward and
Lugari
as
a
whole, the very reason the
people of Lugari languish
in poverty despite being a farming
area.
Lugari Constituency
is a cosmopolitan area. As a civic
leader for Marakusi Ward that lacks
behind in terms of development leaving
all youths to run to the boda boda
business, thus ferrying persons
on bicycles at a fee, Erick Matsanza is
on the
fore
front
to initiate several
poverty-alleviation and related projects, including the donation
of Sufuria's and vegetable seeds
to be planted by the people of not
only Marakusi
but Lugari Constituency as a whole. The aim is to ensure good
quality of life for all in Marakusi Ward and Lugari Constituency.
Erick I.
Matsanza is a loving family man and he and his wife
Violet have two children. They are Valentino Matsanza, born in February
2005, and Belicia Torika, born in
February 2007. He is a God fearing
person
currently
fellowships
at The
Green
Pastures
Terbanacle
in Nairobi,
on Ngong
Road.
Erick
Inghatt Matsanza was born in Western
Province on
April 12, 1974, the
last born son of the Late Dixon Omuhindi Matsanza,
and his wife the Late Dorina Opisa. Erick has worked in various organizations
all
in leadership
positions.

culuminating to establishing of
his own family business.
Today, Erick
has decided to bring change and redefine
the
way
civic
leadership
is
handled – leadership
that
seeks
liberation
from the corruption and clanistic favouritism that has bedevilled not
only
Marakusi
but
Lugari's
social and economic progress that
he
has
witnessed
since
he was born. Most of the leaders
that
have
been
elected
in Lugari,
including
parliamentary
leaders
have
all
resided
outside
the
constituency
therefore
loosing
touch
with
the
reality
of the
problems
bedevilling
the
people
of not
only
Marakusi
Ward
but Lugari
Constituency as
a whole.
They
have
had
no heart
for
the
development
of Lugari
as a
whole
and
this has
to come
to a stop.
The
people
of Lugari
have
been
denied
access
to information
by the
very
leaders
they
have
elected,
sending
them
to a
state
of confusion
and
not
being
able
to tell
the
available
alternative.
They
have
become
victims
of euphorias
going
by the
current
wave
of party
politics
every
election
year, ignoring
persons
who
can
champion
for
their
welfare.
The
time
has
come
to bring
change
into
Marakusi
and
Lugari
leadership.

I.
Matsanza
would
therefore
now humbly submit my candidature for the Civic
Seat in Marakusi Ward in Lugari
Constituency. I have not lost hope
and
it is an honour and a privilege to seek to represent the
people
of
Marakusi
Ward
once again as a Civic Leader. With your vote you will have indeed given
me a voice to represent Marakusi
Ward in Local Governance, articulating your need for better
and transparent governance, equal opportunities for all, income creation, and the need for bridging
our communities extreme divides.
