People
as a
resource Indeed
it has
has
been
said
around
the
world
that
the
greatest resource is people. They
represent an immeasurable value that cannot be replaced by all the land and all
the gemstones in the world. Kenyans on on the other hand have tremendous natural talents – in many
cases, world famous talents. Through their own individual efforts they have excelled
to celebrity
statusbringing great honour and glory to our land.
If
the
leadership
at local
governments
can
not
nurture
this
soon
we may
not
be boasting
of this
achievements.
We do
not
need
grassroot
leadership
that
awaits
for
the
government
of the
day
to make
decisions.
It should
be a
leadership
that
call
for
the
governments
help
in situations
that
it has
already
initiated.
Families
Strong families raise successful children and keep communities
together. Erick I. Matsanza promises to champion responsible relationships
and good parenting which
will
in turn
enhance economic success.
A husband and father of two, Erick
Matsanza
will
promote strong families in Marakusi
Ward
leading
the
campaign
agaist
sex
before
marriage
and
sticking
to one
partner
always
among
the
youths.
Promoting Responsible Fatherhood
The
number
of children without fathers in their lives is
growing
in Marakusi
Ward. Children without fathers
in their lives are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime,
nine times more likely to drop out of school, and 20 times more likely to end up
in prison.
Erick I. Matsanza will work with the Village Elders, Assistant
Chiefs
and
Chiefs
to champion Responsible Fatherhood and
crack down on men avoiding child support
and
continue
to find
out
innovative measures to strengthen families
in the
community.
Women The status of women affects a half of our
population. Women are our mothers, our sisters and our daughters. Anything
that we do to ensure that women are empowered will directly return benefits to the whole community. Empowering
women
means
empowering
families
and
in the
long
term
communities.
Such
an empowerment
will
lead
to better
healthcare for themselves and their families and this will
translate to their raising healthier families – both boys and girls – and a
healthier nation. We need a leadership that is sensitive to women issues and
not
that
which
thrives
on the
culture
of intimidating
women.
It is
easier
started
at the
grassroot
level
than
at the
national
level.
Marakusi
Community Lugari
district
being
newly
created
and
its
proposed
headquater
to be
located
in Marakusi
Ward,
how it
will
be designed - including the layout of its roads, buildings and
parks - will have a huge impact on the future of its residents.
Erick
Matsanza
is seeking
to be
elected
as a
civic
leader
so that
he can
be on
the
forefront
in engaging fellow
leaders
in responsible local governance
to plan
taking
note
of the
health
of the
residents,
parks,
and
other
social
ammenities
at the
initial
stages,
the
foundational
level.
As of
now
the
few
structures
which
have
been
put
in place
seem
not
to be
planned
accordingly
and
there
are
no recreational
areas
being
allocated.
The
current
leadership
is busy
grabbing
resources
and
the
entire
community
will
all
suffer
tomorrow.
Keep
Peace
for
a Stable
community.

Fighting
Poverty There are so
many poor persons
in the rural areas
in Kenya. Most poor dwellers
of Marakusi are
peasant farmers, yet still cannot afford to make ends meet.
Erick Matsanza would
like to work with
the dwellers of
Marakusi Ward to
initiate activities
that would change
their lives starting
with the youths
and women who are
unemployed or not angaged in income generating activities and establish programs
which will engage school leavers so as to reduce the number of persons who join
the "boda boda" business
in Lugari but first
in Marakusi Ward.
